ONE MORE TIME... The Village of Hempstead will vote tonight on UrbanAmerica's plan to redevelop 26 acres of its downtown.
The $2 billion proposal to build 2,500 condos, 600,000 square feet of retail and office space and a performing arts center has been debated by the village board of trustees for months and several votes on the project were scheduled and postponed.
There was speculation that a vote last week was postponed because Hempstead Mayor Wayne Hall didn’t have the votes necessary to get the plan approved. Tonight’s meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Village Hall.
